General InformationThe Department of Information and Communications Engineering was formed by agreement of the Government Council of the UAB in January 27th, 2005. Its roots come from 1986 as a teaching and research unit inside the old Department of Informatics.The Department imparts teaching at the EdE (Escola d'Enginyeria) and at the Faculty of Economics and Business of the UAB. The Departament offers the degrees of Master of Information Engineering and Advanced Computing, as well as the Ph.D. in Computer Science (this programme has received the Quality Award since 2001). The research is focused in the areas of Information and Coding Theory, Image Coding and Networking security. At present the head of the Department is Dr. Joan Borrell, advised by the management team (Jordi Herrera; Josep Rifà, Sergi Robles, Joan Serra). |
